About our club.

Wilnecote Cricket Club was reformed post war in 1956 and is based at its own ground in Brook Avenue, Wilnecote. Cricket has been played in the village of Wilnecote since the 1860’s and we are proud to continue the traditions of the club forward in the present day. Indeed, Wilnecote CC is the only cricket club to actually play cricket within the Tamworth Borough boundary and therefore is a unique facet of both the local community and wider Tamworth area. The team currently fields 3 adult teams – 2 Saturday, 1 Sunday – in the Warwickshire Cricket League and Lichfield & District Cricket League respectively. The club is also launching an All Stars children’s team in 2017 which it is hoped will act as a filter for youngsters into the adult game. Currently the club boasts over 30 playing members but also hosts relatives and people from the wider cricketing family during the summer.

The primary aim of the club is to provide cricket for local people and act as a meeting place and source of cohesion for the local community. To this end, the pavilion is also used all year round hosting functions in support of the people of the village and local and national charities.

As with all grassroots sports clubs however, we are constantly in need of sponsorship in order to continue providing sport for the local area, to develop the grounds facilities and to keep moving forward. We are also eager to forge meaningful and positive relationships with local businesses to try and keep the club at the heart of the community.
